The standalone, fast CPR-only unit — either a quick standalone credential or the annual renewal required alongside a full first aid certificate.

About This Certificate

HLTAID009 is the standalone CPR-only unit — a much shorter, cheaper alternative to the full HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course for anyone who just needs CPR competency specifically, or whose employer or course prerequisites list CPR separately from full first aid. It is also the annual renewal requirement for anyone already holding a full first aid certificate, since CPR competency must be refreshed yearly while the broader first aid certificate lasts three years.

Who This Certificate Is For

Anyone needing a fast, low-cost CPR credential for a job application, volunteering role or course prerequisite. Existing HLTAID011 holders due for their annual CPR refresher. Fitness, education, hospitality and community services workers with a CPR-specific requirement.

What You Will Learn

Recognising cardiac arrest and the chain of survival. Performing CPR on adults, children and infants. Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Managing an unresponsive person and basic airway management.

Australian Cost and Time

One of the fastest and cheapest credentials on this site — a single session of 3–4 hours, costing approximately $80–$120 AUD. Valid for 12 months before renewal is required.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need this if I already have HLTAID011 Provide First Aid? Your full first aid certificate covers CPR at the time you complete it, but CPR competency specifically must be renewed every 12 months even though the broader first aid certificate is valid for three years — this unit is exactly that annual renewal.
